Premier Pure: Is Joining This MLM Company Really Free of Charge?

Some of you readers would know that Magnetic Sponsoring was my very first investment one year after I stepped into Premier Pure, my primary MLM company. To date, I’ve spent close to a thousand dollars on information, software and services related to network marketing, web technology, psychology, copywriting and etc.

The silly thing was that before Magnetic Sponsoring, I was never of the mindset that I had to invest a single cent into my business. From my observations, most newcomers to the industry have this impression as well. This can be traced back to 2 main reasons.

1. Most people enter the industry with a J-O-B mentality, with zero education in entrepreneurship and zero marketing experience.
2. Most new distributors have the idea that just because signing up with Premier Pure does not require any upfront payment, one does not have to make any sort of purchases in the near future.

Back when I was still a newbie, I had also made the same mistake of thinking that everything I needed to learn and apply will be provided. Till today, I still come across Premier Pure distributors believing that there is no investment required and therefore, no risks involved.

The reason why these combined can become a huge obstacle your success in business, is this. If you’re like me, and most other people, you probably joined the Singapore MLM industry without any prior business and marketing experience or success.

If this was the case. The first thing you ought to do is to get yourself educated. Yep, you’ll have to spend money on mastering sales and marketing, and not blow your cash “trying out the company products for yourself so that you’re convinced”. There’s always time for the Premier Pure product samples later.

If your team does happen to offer free marketing training for real, you’ve made a wise decision. But more often than not, these so called trainings only deal with salesmanship and closing prospects within your warm market*. What’s missing and really important for having a profitable and healthy business is education in marketing – the art of getting qualified prospects to find you.

*I wouldn’t flat out claim that warm market approach does not work. I’ve had limited success with it. However, getting results from this approach it has got more to do with the quality of an individual’s pre-existing social network and his relationship with those in there rather than true marketing ability. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this approach as long as it is done professionally. The actual problem is when your entire team depends on it as the main strategy (or lack thereof). A normal person’s warm market is usually not targeted or large enough to sustain any business and generate sufficient referrals. You should, however, share your products or opportunity to your warm market passively and as a supplement to your main marketing efforts.

As a result, a common scenario in the Singapore MLM industry would be an entire team of  distributors using outdated and ineffective ways to run a business. Regardless of each individual’s ability to upgrade themselves, and a convenient excuse you’ll hear from most Singapore MLM leaders is that “more advanced marketing strategies are too difficult for the average person and not duplicable”. You may or may not be an average person. If you ask me, I definitely did not go into marketing to remain an average person with an average income and average lifestyle.

Bear in mind that mediocre methods will yield you mediocre results.

When I understood this truth, I decided to go out of my way to master real world marketing techniques that I was initially not exposed to. I couldn’t stand to settle for unprofessional, second-rate methods and struggle like everyone else. You do not deserve this either.

I still believe that network marketing is a viable opportunity for any budding entrepreneur on a budget, especially the Premier Pure MLM opportunity. You don’t have to spend a hell lot of money for a start, but you’ll still need to be prepared to spend some money.

As far as running a business is concerned, there will always be some sort of risk involved. Even if the Premier Pure opportunity does not require you to purchase anything in order to participate, you’re putting your time at risk. Everything has an opportunity cost. Without investing time and money into your business, it’s profitability and growth will be limited. Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise.

I highly recommend that your first purchase be an information product that introduces to you core marketing principles, Magnetic Sponsoring for instance. This will give u an idea of how the various marketing tools and systems out there are gonna fit into your business model.

With that being said, do understand that network marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme where you can expect to see results in days. If you’re in desperate need of cash, please go get a job and come back to Premier Pure later. And choose the right team for yourself.

If you’d like my opinion on any sort of info product or marketing tools you’ve came across but felt unsure about, feel free to talk about it in the comments section.

Bet Your Upline Forgot to Teach You This

Have you ever realise that whenever you speak to a networker about what he does, you’ll often hear big words like leverage, time freedom, residual income, business development, Armageddon, blah dee blah…?

Yea, of course we were all promised these things when we first started. However, getting to them all was another story.

Just 3 months into the industry, I ended up slogging 12 hours a day, doing surveys, calling unqualified prospects, dealing with objections, attending stupid rah-rah meetings, attending useless motivational talks, hearing “I’m not interested” a thousand times and still have not gotten profitable. Time freedom? Hah.

Now, I’ll like to talk about “LEVERAGE”.

When I first started, I asked about how can I have leverage, residual income and time freedom. They said, ”Its simple. Approach as many of your relatives and share with them our products. Approach as many of your friends and share the compensation plan with them, and talk about leverage, time freedom and residual income.”

Soon I ran outta friends and relatives in my warm market to prospect. ”Well then, let’s go to the malls and prospect as many passers-by as you can. You may just find yourself a superstar downline, and talk to him about leverage, time freedom and residual income.

Being naïve and thinking that I had fully understood the business I dived in on the ideas I was given. The results were horrible. If you’ve done surveys in public places before I’m sure you’ll understand. And I haven’t even mention the part about calling them.

Of course I wasn’t satisfied and definitely wasn’t ready to admit defeat. I took that term leverage and thought of it beyond compensation plans and how much money I could earn if I had leverage.

Here’s where I realized that most distributors talking about leverage don’t really know what on earth they’re blabbering about.

You see, leverage is not just about the money you’re gonna make as a network marketer. Think beyond the residual income to the core of the idea.

What if instead of 10 presentations a day, you can now do 100? And instead of having 50 prospects a day, you can have 500?

I once shared my “deep thoughts” with this badass old school networker, Ken. After the first lesson, Ken compiled a contact list and profile of all his past prospects from surveys and ads and sold them off to a bunch of distributors from another MLM company, insurance and property agents as leads. HAH!

And with that same old list, he also traded it for fresh leads from insurance agents who were doing surveys around his place. Called the list through and resold them to the same distributors, insurance and property agents. And here’s the bomb: at $0.50 – $1.00 per lead.

So Ken didn’t have to waste a hell lot of time doing surveys ever again. Neither did he have to worry about spending money on leads too. In fact, he makes a profit each time he generates a lead.

Besides being old school, that was kind of an asshole thing to do. Honestly, I don’t encourage such behaviour but still, it was leverage in some ways. Plus, multiple streams of income. This allowed Ken to further leverage his efforts because he can now afford to hire an assistant to do the cold calling for him. What an MLM gangster.

So don’t just think about leveraged income at the end, but also how you can apply leverage to all of your business activities on a daily basis. You’re sure to see yourself spending less time on your business and rising up faster than most struggling networkers.

That’s the difference between network marketers that get it and those who think they got it.

Not Everyone Is A Prospect

One mistake that most uplines make is telling you that EVERYONE IS A PROSPECT.

When I first started out in network marketing, one of the very first things I was taught was to create a list of everyone I knew and categorize them as either a potential customer or a potential partner. I was then supposed to arrange an appointment with each of them to “share” the products or business opportunity.

I mean seriously, who wouldn’t want financial freedom, a boss-free life, time for family, friends, vacations and all that nice stuff? And seriously, who wouldn’t need your awesome out of this world product?

“But, I’m not very close to this Uncle John.”

“Don’t worry, Don. Many other agents were just like you when they first started. But after sharing with all their friends and relatives about our products and opportunity, they’ve grown much closer to everyone around them.”

So I “shared” my products and business opportunity with every single person in my family tree and phonebook despite my shyness. All of them bought my stuff and today, I’m so successful and so close everyone that all of them call me every other day just to ask how I’m doing.

Hah, kidding.

Initially, I went ahead with the suggestion, although I would often hear a voice in my head nagging at me, as if something just wasn’t right.

After going through half my list of 200+ friends, relatives, colleagues and associates, I’ve recruited a grand total of 9 people into my downline, and made a few sales. I didn’t think there was a need to follow through with the other half to realize that this method was not working. Plus, it was also bad for my mental health to be rejected by so many people, especially when they’re people who I knew personally. Ouch!

Granted there were instances where I did make money, but it wasn’t consistent enough to replace a full-time job, much less provide me with residual income and time freedom.

It doesn’t take anyone a hell lot of common sense to accept the fact that not everyone is qualified or looking to run a business.

I learned that there were in fact many people who love their jobs and are contented with being an employee for life. Is my classmate Jim who’s been a crazy computer gamer since primary school, ZERO business experience suddenly gonna want to be an entrepreneur? Some people despise business people in general. Some people don’t have the time.  Some people are contented with their lives and don’t desire to make any changes. Some people just couldn’t care less.

As a marketer, your job is not to convince anyone into joining your opportunity or buying your product. Because anyone convinced against his will is still of the same opinion.

No individual is worth your time until they’ve shown an interest in what you’re offering and have asked you for more information.

It really doesn’t matter if you think that person is the perfect MLM prospect, despises the 9 to 5 job, lots of connections, fantastic social skills. He may be a potential prospect, but not worth pursuing until he is actively looking for a solution to his problem. I mean c’mon, everyone knows a few people who always complain about being overweight but look what are they doing about it for the past 3 years.

Another problem with trying to prospect everyone is that if everyone’s a prospect, that means you have to constantly be on the lookout. Then how are you going to separate your personal life from your business life? How are you going to have a normal conversation without thinking of recruiting them at the back of your mind?

Prospecting everyone that you come in contact with is kinda like shooting bullets in every damn direction, hoping that maybe you could land a few shots on your target.

Wouldn’t recruiting and marketing your company’s products be easier if you have a way of pinpointing your target and focusing all your shots in just that one direction?

Think of yourself as a hunter and your prospect as the prey. Just like a prey, all prospects have certain behaviourial patterns which will allow the you, the hunter, to time and aim your shots based on their behaviour.

Every prey has certain habits
that make it predictable.

They do certain
things,

eat certain food,

and go to certain places.

Once you understand these three vital pieces
you will catch whatever you’re hunting for. This is marketing.

There are actually millions of people out there who really do want to start a business or a product like yours to solve their problems. The ones truly worth your time are those who take action to go out of their way to find the answers. These are your prospects.

Feel free to share your prospecting experiences in the comment box below. I’m always interested to read about your opinions. If anything catches my interest, I may decide to reveal a bit more of my thoughts on the subject.
