I’m a teenager currently in Polytechnic Studies and I’ve encountered a Premier Pure advocate recently, twice in a day.

It happened on a lazy Sunday afternoon along the streets of Orchard Road where I was shopping. One at the entrance of far east plaza, the other outside ION. I gave a fake number to the first one, he claimed to be doing an islandwide survey of youth’s job preferences. DAFUQ?

ANYWAY,
These people work like ningas, seriously.

In the second case, I slowed to check my phone when suddenly, out of nowhere, a friendly surveyor stopped me in my tracks, and handed me a form to fill in my “career prospects” again. Why I did it a second time? I was not thinking that day. Well, this guy was relentless. His intense gaze and plastered smile just made me slightly creeped out, so I gave in and filled up the form hurriedly.

He kept talking and gave me no chance to think, but my pity for his large stack of unfilled forms made me just want to complete it and walk off. Given that it was my term break, he mentioned how I will be able to earn “a definite SGD$300-400 a week”, (which is average part time pay for a whole week) and I thought, why not? Well, when I asked what the job scope was like, he simply said it was “very easy”, chiming in “bonuses” and “incentives” on top of the commissions.

When further questioned, he finally put the gist of it together, that my “job” would be to give presentations and orientate customers around the office. It sounded like a cool secretary job at first, and I was slightly won over by this quick prospective employment.

I left my name and contact number down. [It was a hot day, I was not in my right mind.]

Guess what?
DAMN WRONG MOVE OF MY WEEK.

Thankfully I found out it was a scam after doing background checks on the company. Not only that, the guy was really unprofessional. He called A LOT OF TIMES to remind me of the seminar, and his texts where clearly that of an ahbeng, peppered with either too many smileys , or it sounded awkwardly overly nice.
